Introduction to Using QR Codes for Real Estate Marketing

Hello, and welcome back to another session in the series of modern marketing tactics for real estate agents! Today, we’re diving deep into the world of QR codes and how they are transforming the way real estate agents connect with potential clients. Just as we’ve explored the many facets of digital marketing, let’s journey together through the dynamic use of QR codes. And if you’ve been paying attention to our previous sessions, you know we’re all about leveraging technology to maximize our marketing reach!

What are QR Codes?

First things first, let’s understand what a QR code is. These little squares filled with mysterious black and white patterns are actually Quick Response (QR) codes. Designed for rapid scanning, they immediately take users to a digital destination, be it a website, a video, or any other online platform.

Why Should Real Estate Agents Use Them?

The real beauty of QR codes for real estate agents is their convenience. Think about it. While strolling through a neighborhood, potential buyers can simply scan a QR code on a “For Sale” sign and instantly access detailed property listings, virtual tours, or even contact details for the listing agent.  I often describe QR codes as a way to bridge your print marketing with your digital marketing.  Here are a few things that would be a a great use of QR codes:

  1. Digital Business Cards: Imagine linking your Linkedin profile or personal website to a QR code! It’s like having a dynamic business card – one scan, and potential clients have everything they need to know about you.  As a best practice, add QR codes to your business card and quite frankly all your print marketing
  2. Virtual House Tours:  As we’ve emphasized time and again, the digital world is where most engagements are happening nowadays. By linking a QR code to a virtual tour of a property, you provide potential buyers the chance to explore a home from the comfort of their own phone. No need for them to wait for an open house!
  3. Interactive Property Brochures:  We’re living in a world that loves interaction. So, why not embed QR codes into property brochures? These can link to video testimonials, neighborhood guides, or even mortgage calculator tools. By making your materials interactive, you’re essentially giving potential clients a richer experience.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials: Trust is paramount in the real estate industry. By using QR codes to link to reviews and testimonials, you’re offering transparent insights into your service. It’s akin to letting your happy customers do the talking for you!

Creating a QR Code

Making a QR Code  is as easy as 1,2,3.  Here are the three ridiculously easy steps:

Best Practices for using QR Codes

  1. Create a Mobile Friendly landing page:  This is important for several reasons.  If they are scanning a QR Code, it’s going to be read by a mobile device.  Having a landing page allows you to change the content on the page if needed and allows you to track the analytics of that page.
  2. Write a “Call-to-Action (CTA) for your QR code:  For example, “Scan for Virtual Tour.”  If you put a QR code without  explaining why, only curious people will scan it.
  3. Add a Hyperlink: If you are putting the QR code on your digital marketing, also include a hyperlink so that the user can tap on it.
  4. Test your QR Code:   This is super important.  I recently saw a mural in Sacramento and there was a QR code that provided more information about the artist on a placard.  Guess what?  It didn’t work.  Talk about FAIL.

In conclusion, if you’re not using QR codes as part of your marketing toolkit, you’re missing out on an effective, modern strategy. They bridge the physical and digital worlds, enhancing the client experience and showcasing you as an agent who’s ahead of the curve.
