Real Estate Agents: ChatGPT Plus (Paid) vs. ChatGPT (Free)

ChatGPT Plus vs. free ChatGPT

What Do Realtor’s Get with ChatGPT Plus?

I was an early adopter of ChatGPT and it quickly became a big part of my workflow and I found that I could do more work using this tool.  One of the frustrating things about it initially was that lots of people were also using it and I had a hard time accessing it during peak usage time.  So, when OpenAI offered a paid version, I immediately pulled  out my credit card.

My high usage of ChatGPT justifies paying $20 a month for ChatGPT Plus.  As a real estate agent, should you stay with the free version or upgrade?   We’ll discuss what you would get by upgrading.  In writing this article, I found that OpenAI documentation was woefully sparse and I had to toggle back and forth between the paid version and free version to see the difference.  So here’s what  you get:

  • Priority Access:  the paid version allows immediate access to ChatGPT even during high traffic times (this is the main reason that I upgraded).
  • Access to ChatGPT-4.  The free version is on ChatGPT-3.5.  See our blog,  Real Estate Listing: ChatGPT 4 vs. ChatGPT 3.5.
  • Higher Word Count:  The input word count for ChatGPT 3.5 is about 3000 words and in comparison, 6000 for ChatGPT 4.
  • Faster response:  If you use the free version, you’ll find that it can be painfully slow.
  • Access to plugins.  Plugins are like little apps for ChatGPT.  The one that I use quite frequently is Link Reader which allows me to paste URLs in the prompt so that ChatGPT can digest it.
  • Dall.E3 Integration.  With this feature, you can use ChatGPT to generate images (more on this in a future blog post)
  • Advanced Data Analysis:  With this feature, you can upload files and have ChatGPT analyze it (more on this in a future blog post).

These are just the features that I think would be beneficial for realtors.  There are other features (like API access) that are technical in nature that I didn’t go over.

So, should you upgrade to the paid version?  My advice is initially just to use the free version.  If you find yourself frustrated by the limitations, that’s the time to upgrade.  Until then, take the time to learn the capabilities and see how you would use ChatGPT in your daily tasks.
